Our privacy obligations

iAssure Transaction Assurance Systems LTD takes the security of any personal information users share with us seriously and treats it with utmost care and importance.

 

Interpretation

 

‘Personal information’ means information an opinion about a user or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.

 

iAssure- TASL Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected and/or held by iAssure Transaction Assurance Systems Ltd.

 

This Privacy Policy also explains how we process ‘personal data’ about people who use our platform, as required by the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

 

We will review this policy regularly, and it will be updated occasionally/ frequently as required.

 

Privacy Policy

 

To efficiently deliver on our mandate to provide “Assured Delivery, Guaranteed Payment”, we collect personal information about users, some of which are part of the sign-up process while others may be collected during interaction with our products, services, and customer support.

 

The services we offer are provided through various platforms including but not limited to websites, web and mobile applications, email, and telephone. The specific platform, product, service, or support you interact with may affect the type of personal data that may be required to be collected.

 

Not all information requested, collected, and processed by us is classified as “Personal Information” as it does not identify you as a specific natural person. These include content generated by users on our platforms with the intention of sharing with other users while interacting with content on our platform or while executing a transaction. Information provided in such manner is not covered by this privacy policy. However some information regarded as non-personal information may be used in together or be linked with existing personal information. Any information in this form it will be treated as personal information.

 

In the event where a user provides us with personal information which was not requested for by us, or through means not intended for the collection of certain types of information, we may take rational measures to secure such information. However, the user will have side-stepped our defined systems, processes, and control and therefore the information provided will not be governed by this privacy policy.

 

Additionally, some users may provide us with personal information over platforms that are outside our control, i.e. via social or other media. Having indicated that any information collected by us is governed by this Privacy Policy, the platform/medium by which it was communicated will be governed by its own Privacy Policy.

 

Instances for collection of personal information

1. Specific requests for data
While using our products and services we may require of you to provide certain types of personal information. This may be through our corporate website, web and mobile applications, chat bots, telephone, digitised and printed forms, or in-person meetings. The user will be given a notice indicating a request for collection of Personal Information at the time of collection. The notice may be written or verbal.

We may specifically request, collect, or process certain types of information as follows:

a) Account credentials – username & password
b) Contact Details – email address, phone number(s) of user and delegated personnel
c) Identity Details – full name, proof of identity (e.g. National Id, Driver’s licence, Passport), proof of address (e.g. utility bill)
d) Financial Information – debit/credit card details, bank/wire transfer details, payment processor details, Tax Identification Numbers (TIN)
e) Location Details – temporary/permanent physical address, delivery address
f) Content from user’s interaction- transaction descriptions, transaction attachments

2. Information collected from others

Users may start a transaction with others (non-users by providing contact details such as email address, physical address, and phone number. In such instances, the information will be collected and stored by us to contact the non-user and to prevent abuse of our systems.

Information may also be transmitted by the payment service provider of the user regarding the payment that we may collect or process.

In some situations, we may collect or process some personal information of users from public sources such as contact and location details, financial Information (transaction details, payment account details, bank/wire transfer details), and content generated by users while interacting and using our platform.

In situations where a transaction is generated from our partners, the information that can be provided is the same as the information we may request, collect and process from individual users. Information from our partners platforms will be governed by their own privacy policy.

However, any personal information that is transferred to our platform from partners will be treated and protected as though it was submitted by the user.

3. Through Interaction with the iAssure Platform

We maintain records of all engagements and interactions we have with users of our platform, including the products, services and customer support we have provided. These include user logs such as when a user has viewed a page or clicked a button.

We may collect and process personal information that is essential to any interaction or communication. If a user gets in touch with us for example through email, we may collect the email address used.

We may collect or process information such as:

a) Metadata – IP address, device connection information, referring web address, standard web log information, etc.
b) Device Information – device identifier, device type, plugins, device capabilities, etc
c) User Actions – pages visited, buttons clicked, usage stats, keywords searched, etc

Third-party sites

Users may come across links to third party websites which may be from us, other users or nonusers. We strongly advise users to examine the terms and conditions of such third-party websites and their privacy policies before giving out any personal information. Such websites are not under our control, and we are therefore not responsible for their actions.

Processing Personal Information

The information requested, collected, and processed by iAssure- TASL are principally used for the following purposes:

a) to enable us to provide the product or service you request
b) to provide customer, technical, or other support
c) to enable smooth operations of the platform such as debugging, testing, etc
d) to facilitate the creation of iAssure- TASL Agreements
e) to conduct data analysis, research and otherwise build and improve our platforms
f) to comply with legal and regulatory requirements
g) for other genuine, legal, or legitimate interests, except the user withdraws consent for these purposes such as promoting other platforms, products or services and which do not infringe on the rights of users
h) protecting the interests of users

Disclosure of Personal Information

1. To relevant parties in a transaction Personal information may be disclosed to other parties that users engage in a transaction with such as

a) Buyer, seller, or another counterparty
b) agents/ brokers
c) partners involved in executing the transaction.

2. To service providers

Personal information may be collected or processed on behalf of iAssure- TASL by third-party service providers. The third-party service providers are obligated to only use the personal information of users on our behalf, according to our directives.

These service providers include:

a) Cloud hosting, storage, systems, networking and related providers
b) Payment, Banking, and other financial service providers
c) Short Messaging Service (SMS) providers
d) Email providers
e) Marketing and analytics providers
f) Security providers
g) Chat providers

3. Other disclosures

Personal information may be disclosed to third parties for the other purposes as follows:

a) To facilitate the provision of a product or service requested by the user
b) By court order, or relevant government agency required by law
c) For other purposes if permitted or required by law
d) for other purposes with the consent of the user

Users Access to Personal Information


Users can exercise their right to request access or correction to the personal information iAssure- TASL holds about them unless there’s an exception. Users generally can access or correct their personal information by logging into their respective accounts with us at zero cost to the user. If the needed information is not available in the user account info on the platform, the user may contact our support centre for further assistance.

Rights of Users


Users have various rights to the personal information iAssure- TASL holds about them. Users however may be limited in the exercise of some rights due to the nature, scope, and description of the services we offer. Generally, most of the personal information we collect and process cannot be deleted because they enable us to deliver our part in contracts between parties to a transaction. i.e. assure and facilitate payments, guarantee delivery, offer protection for legitimate users, and fulfil legal obligations.

If a user has sufficient reason to believe that iAssure- TASL does not have genuine grounds for processing their personal information, grievances may be channelled through our support mediums.

Complaints resolution


While we endeavour to resolve complaints quickly and informally, if you wish to proceed with a formal privacy complaint, we request that you make your complaint in writing to our support centre through our text or email address. We will acknowledge your formal complaint within 5 working days.
